Staying For Good A Most Likely To Novel Book 2 eBook Catherine Bybee

Zoe has been voted the "Most Likely to Never Leave River Bend" at her high school graduation. Part of this is due to her serious relationship with Luke & part is due to growing up in a trailer without any extra money for college. Who would believe that she would come back at her ten year reunion as a celebrity chef? Seeing Luke again has wakened up those same feelings again but she doesn't want to come back & deal with her family & her repressed emotions of bitterness & resentment.

Luke is the guy left behind. He's a mechanic in his father's shop & was never dissatisfied with his life until Zoe came back. With all the feelings for her being brought to the surface, he begins to wonder if he's made the right choice. But can he leave his hometown, job & family for her?

This story would be an easy one to turn dark & depressing but somehow Catherine Bybee balances the light & the dark. Zoe's resentment of her "blood" family is balanced by her love of her "family of the heart", her girlfriends that feel like they should be her sisters & Miss Gina. The writer has a way of grabbing you from the first scene & getting you emotionally invested in the story & the characters. I love the relationship between Miss Gina & the girls. She reminds me of a godmother or grandmotherly figure. Ms. Bybee's books are intense & emotional without all of the overt sexiness that seems popular in today's books. A true heartfelt romance with a touch of suspense!

Staying For Good A Most Likely To Novel Book 2 eBook Catherine Bybee Reviews

Staying For Good by Catherine Bybee.....This story was amazing and grab me on the first page. It pulls on your heartstrings with these fantastic characters that are so well written and likeable. I enjoyed watching the story be told for Zoe and Luke. This is one book I highly recommend, it will keep you flipping pages. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader cop of this book from publisher via NetGalley.
There's something about reunion and second chance stories that I love the history, the angst, the tension, the timing finally working for the main couple... I love them. Unfortunately, Staying For Good didn't work for me.

I did like how the hero understood why the heroine had to leave him, how they communicated and there were no silly misunderstandings, and the cute moments they shared. But there was no real conflict between them, there was more telling than showing and I got bored pretty fast.

I'm sure this book will win many other romance readers (it already has) but it was not my cup of tea.
If you follow my reviews, you will know that I love Catherine Bybee and her writing. No matter what she write, she has the uncanny ability to pull you into the story from the very start and engage your emotions on a level that very few authors out there can. And she definitely doesn't disappoint with Staying For Good. Ultimately, this is a second chance story with a sprinkle of danger and suspense. The two main characters are intriguing and real and will make you live through their heartbreaking story together with them.

Zoe is a character I admire. Like a phoenix she rose from the ashes of the nightmare she lived through as a child and followed her dream. That cost her a lot and she broke her own heart in the process but she did what she needed to do to survive. She thought she healed her broken heart. She thought she had everything she needed. Until she met Luke again... And Zoe saw all that was missing in her life.

Zoe and Luke's story is not easy, but it is romantic and tender and definitely hot. And it doesn't hurt that there is just enough danger, suspense and heartbreak to make it a page turner. And it ends in a way that will make you crave the next book in the series. And I am sure that's going to be a roller coaster ;) But for now, get your #1click finger working and pick up your copy of Staying for Good )

Rating 3.0/5.0

I don't know if I made a mistake by jumping into this book without reading the first one or not. But I would say the story was decent. Nothing major here. It felt predictable to me most of the time. Basically I was guessing what would happen next and that thing would happen. The protagonists were characters that anyone could relate to them easily. Some of the problems could be common too and many families suffer from.

Basically the story is more related to the second chance romance. The characters decide to give it another chance after many years when their relationship did not work in the past (We get a glimpse from the past to why this happened briefly in the beginning of the book). The writing style is easy to grasp and interesting sometimes but the predictability of how the story was going I feel made things not so interesting for me.

Romance lovers might enjoy this book more than I did.
