The Perfect Wife eBook Louise Mullins

While I was intrigued by the plot, there was very little development. I couldn’t tell where the main character was imagining, thinking, planning or re-living the events of the story. Also, the timeline was wonky which further confused me. As a reader I do love a good mystery but I wasn’t able to gather enough information to venture a guess as to where the story was leading. I read about 3/4 but didn’t finish the book.

The Perfect Wife eBook Louise Mullins Reviews

Very good story to the end .
Hard to follow
This book was okay.... I thought that it would be very good and it was indeed interesting, but lacked an overall "put-togetherness." It seemed to jump around a bit and was confusing and predictable at the same time. When I finished reading it I couldn't help but to feel that something must have been left out, there were unanswered questions I had about the characters.
The Perfect Wife- Louise Mullins 4*
Annette had an “incident” many years ago which has transformed her life and the way that she thinks. Her husband Carl, she is convinced is having an affair with her best friend Janelle. This is a slightly disturbing read in that you are not sure what Annette says is true or in her mind. Written in the first person this is sensitively written with scenes some may find disturbing if they have ever been in similar situations. Tackling mental health and trauma’s is never easy and this deals with several of those issues. A book to remember.
This novel was disappointing in its plot line, character development and atmosphere. Cell phones and land lines advanced the narrative, not situations. I won't read this author again.
A little slow for me but a decent book.
This author definitely has talent but this particular novel had some degree of confusion for me towards the end and including the end.

For example, at a fairly late stage, out of the blue there's suddenly a couple new characters introduced. As I understand it this is a literary no-no. The effect on this reader was to cause annoyance with the author and a feeling she was hastily tacking on an arbitrary ending that she came up with on the spur of the moment.

This is somewhat of a denouement as the reader was held in suspense from the beginning regarding some mysterious horrific event that had occurred to cause the main character to break down. Then, at the end, when the event is finally revealed, it feels like a let down because it turns out to be pretty dull and predictable.

Im' still giving 3 stars though because this author shows a lot of promise and her prose style flows nicely with just the right amount of complexity in the sentences.
